General
An Audiowalk allows you to discover sights along a selected route. At each stop you can listen to interesting information from your virtual tour guide. An interactive map shows you the way.
Our tours offer you an overview of the most important sights:
- 🏠 Buildings and architecture: you will hear everything you need to know about the architecture and history of the sights along your route.
- 🌇 History of the city: Interesting insights into the history of the city: its past, significant events and historical personalities.
- 🍹 Activities along the way: In addition, you’ll get recommendations for activities to do near each stop: from museums to cafés to shopping.
The app is still very new. Currently, only a few tours are available. But we are working on making more available quickly.
A self-guided audio tour has some advantages:
- 🕖 you can start the tour when you want and don’t have to stick to fixed times
- 🚶🏼♂️du you can discover the city at your own pace – independent of others
- ☕️ you can make detours off the route and continue the tour later on
- 👀 you discover the city with open eyes and not with a guidebook in front of your nose
- 😷 you’re not stuck in a traffic jam, like you would be with a bus….
- 💪 you are environmentally friendly and sporty on the road
Each tour is available for you in English and German. You can also change the language after purchase.
The App
If the player in the app seems to be playing something you can’t hear, there may be a problem with your headphones. If your Bluetooth headphones aren’t working, you can try the following steps to identify and possibly fix the problem:
- Check battery status: Make sure the headphones are fully charged. Some headphones have LEDs that indicate the charge level.
- Ensure device proximity: Bluetooth range is usually about 10 meters without obstacles. Make sure the connected device is within this range.
- Reboot: Reboot both the headphones and the connected device (e.g. smartphone or computer).
- Disconnect and reconnect Bluetooth connection: Go into the Bluetooth settings of the device, disconnect and reconnect the headphones.
- Put headphones in pairing mode: Many Bluetooth headphones have a special mode where they search for new devices. Consult the user manual of your headphones to find out how to put them into pairing mode.
- Delete forgotten device: In the Bluetooth settings of the connected device, it may be helpful to remove the headphones from the list of known devices (“Forgotten”) and then pair them again.
- Check for software updates: Sometimes software updates for both the connected device and the headphones themselves (if available) can fix connectivity issues.
- Test different devices: connect the headphones to another device to determine if the problem is with the headphones or the original device.
- Check interference: Other electronic devices or Wi-Fi networks can cause Bluetooth interference. Try using the headphones in a different environment to see if the problem persists.
- Reset: Some headphones offer the option to reset them to factory settings. This can be helpful in some cases, especially if there are problems with the software.
- Consult manual: Check the user manual of your headphones. It may give specific instructions or troubleshooting tips for your model.
- Download the app from the AppStore.
- After the installation you can browse the tours and buy a suitable tour.
- After purchasing, download your tour (so you don’t need too much data on the road).
- You can start the tour at any time.
- Select a point on the tour where you want to start.
- When you are at that point, start the player in the app and listen to the info.
- The map will show you where you are, where your route is and where your next stop is.
- You can also pause the tour along the way (to stay longer in one place, visit a nice cafe, or or…).
- You will find at each stop information about activities in the area
The best thing to do is to each install the app, buy a tour and start on two phones. Of course, you can also share a pair of headphones and listen to a tour together.
Of course! You can restart your tour as often as you want. It will be available for at least 1 year after purchase.
Currently, we cannot yet guarantee 100% offline availability. However, the data of the tours will be completely downloaded before the start. You can do this in a WLAN. This way, you only need a small amount of data on the road.
Codes
To activate your tour, please follow these steps:
1. download the app “Audiowalker – City Tours” for iOS or Android.
2. copy the booking reference you received in the booking confirmation from GetYourGuide (example GYGX7QNFV8M1)
3. open the app and paste the booking reference into the “Code” field (section “Purchased”, “Redeem code”)
4. your tour is now activated and ready to go!
No, your code is valid for one year from the date of purchase.
